Bryony Leah – Editor

Full-time freelance fiction editor. Genres: Romance (all sub-genres), Romantasy, New Adult. Based in England. Works with US and UK fiction.

Overview

I’m a full-time fiction editor and published writer offering friendly, professional book editing services to primarily self-publishing authors. With 10+ years' experience writing and editing fiction, I've worked on 200+ books with writers at all stages of publication. Several of the debut authors I've worked with have become bestsellers, and I love nothing more than forming long-lasting, supportive, and creatively collaborative partnerships with the authors I edit for.

I'm based in England, but having spent some time living in the USA, as well as having worked and trained with clients on both sides of the Atlantic, I’m experienced at copyediting and proofreading both US and UK English. I enjoy helping authors adapt their work to suit their preferred style, so if you need an editor to switch your "isms" to "izms" or vice versa, I'm here to help!

My primary focus lies in your words and ensuring clarity: I edit only what’s necessary to give your writing a professional polish. I believe in a lighter touch where possible to deliver accuracy and consistency, which means I’ll adapt to your writing style and take the utmost care not to impose my own voice on your work. To me, the mark of a good quality editor is one who leaves no mark—and that’s a skill only acquired through hands-on experience, plenty of training, and a really big dose of word nerdery!

I’m a Professional member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (which means I’ve been trained, vetted, and have proven hundreds of hours of editing experience to a board of judges), as well as a member of ACES: The Society For Editing and the Editorial Freelancers Association, all of which I regularly train with.
