Overview
I am a translator in love with the power and music of written words, their spoken and unspoken message. I am well aware that translating does not simply mean transferring from one language to another, but being able to convey all the emotions that words can carry with them, always respecting the author's choices in terms of vocabulary, register, feel, sound and style. I have very good time management skills and always respect deadlines.
I work in a team with other translators, who provide me with editing, proofreading and feedback of my own work.
My final product is ready to be published, with no need for any more proofreading.
One reference from my LinkedIn page:
I had the opportunity to engage Barbara to translate my book Daniela Domenica and the Guarneri di Gesu into Italian. It is written under my pen name, Angela Brown and the Italian title is Daniela Domenica e il Violino Guarneri.
I found Barbara to be highly organized, thoughtful, responsive, and thorough. She studied the voice of the narrator and captured it effectively. When she found something that she did not quite understand she sought my advice. The setting of my book in some chapters takes place in parts of Italy that she is very familiar with.

Work experience
Self-employed
After a lifetime spent as a teacher of English literature, I decided to turn to literary translation, basing my new job on my experience with different literary genres, figures of speech, voices, sound devices and so on. I am positive that working with written texts as a teacher has given me special insight and translation skills, which I duly supported with specific studies in translation. So far I have translated 50+ books, for both traditional publishing houses and independent authors.
