Sasha Baker

Sasha Baker – Editor

I am an experienced proofreader who works for Macmillan, Hachette and Bonnier across fiction and nonfiction adult and children's titles.

Overview

I started working as a proofreader in 2019 and have since built a business working across various major publishers in the UK. I adapt to client needs and can do light edits or really dive in, depending on what authors and publishers want. I provide a professional service, paying special attention to clumsy wording, continuity errors and typesetting.

I specialise in literary and LGBTQ+ fiction, as well as children's books, and enjoy helping people best execute their creative vision. I can also offer sensitivity reads, with expertise on DEI issues including Jewishness, queerness, ADHD and mental health issues, and – being a rare Gen Z freelancer in publishing – I'll tell you kids don't talk like that!
