Overview
A lifelong reader and storyteller, I graduated with a degree in English and literary arts and always knew I wanted to be an editor. Although I work as a freelancer on editing of all kinds (including for traditional publishing houses and small presses), I particularly love to help self-published authors improve their manuscripts. My aim as an editor is to treat your work like my own, putting the finishing touches on it and smoothing out any rough edges without taking away your unique narrative voice and style.
As an author myself, I understand how difficult it can be to finish a manuscript and then trust a professional to treat it with the care it deserves. I am thorough, detail oriented, and love to dig into a good story. As your editor, I'm on your team, and I'm here during these final stages of copyediting and proofreading to make sure your manuscript is something you're proud and excited to publish.
Over the course of my career, I've had the pleasure of editing and proofreading more than 150 books. While I am open to working on fiction of all kinds, my most preferred genres are young adult and adult fantasy, paranormal, romance (all heat levels!), thriller, and mystery. At this time, I do not work on short-form fiction (such as short stories, short novellas, or essays), nonfiction, poetry, or memoir. Please also keep in mind that I do not offer developmental editing, book coaching, or manuscript assessments, nor do I provide story/character/plot feedback as part of my copy editing or proofreading.
I can edit in American English, British English, and Australian English, and I work with region-appropriate resources such as The Chicago Manual of Style, New Hart's Rules, Merriam-Webster, and Collins Dictionary. I use Microsoft Word's Tracked Changes and Comments features, so you'll be able to clearly and easily see what I've changed and suggested. I usually book at least 4-6 weeks out.
