Overview
I have been a freelance translator from Spanish and sometimes Portuguese for more than ten years. My full-length translations include novels, nonfiction, and graphic narrative by Manuel Vilas, Tomás González, Jorge Franco, Cristina Morató, Inês Pedrosa, Aura Xilonen, Juan Gómez Bárcena, Laura Pérez, Paco Roca, and Marcelo D’Salete. Three of my translations have won Eisner Awards, and I have received awards and grants from the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute, the Fulbright Program, the American Literary Translators Association, the Banff International Literary Translation Centre, and the Institute for Comparative Modernities at Cornell University. I have acquired an accidental subspecialty in narco literature, having translated multiple Escobar family memoirs and a Jorge Franco novel on the topic, in addition to doing reader reports for publishers on related books. I have also translated academic monographs by scholars such as Lina Meruane, Javier Uriarte, and Ana Forcinito.
