Overview
I have been a freelance translator from Spanish and sometimes Portuguese for more than ten years. My full-length translations include novels, nonfiction, and graphic narrative by Manuel Vilas, Tomás González, Jorge Franco, Cristina Morató, Inês Pedrosa, Aura Xilonen, Juan Gómez Bárcena, Ana Penyas, Paco Roca, and Marcelo D’Salete. Two of my translations have won Eisner Awards, and I have received awards and grants from the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute, the Fulbright Program, the American Literary Translators Association, and the Banff International Literary Translation Centre. I have acquired an accidental subspecialty in narco literature, having translated multiple Escobar family memoirs and a Jorge Franco novel on the topic, in addition to doing reader reports for publishers on related books. I have also translated academic monographs by scholars such as Lina Meruane, Javier Uriarte, and Ana Forcinito.
