Abi Waters – Editor

Creative and adaptable project editor with 20 years’ experience developing, editing and project managing illustrated non-fiction titles.

Overview

I have worked in publishing for over 20 years, both in-house and as a freelance editor, and I am proud to have partnered with distinguished authors and publishers during the course of my career. For the last 13 years, I have been running my own business as a Freelance Project Editor specialising in non-fiction titles. I have experience working across a broad spectrum of titles and subject areas and have been sought out for my expertise in cookery and food and drink titles.

I provide a wide range of tailored editorial services, supporting clients at any stage of the editorial cycle, from copy creation to copy-editing and proofreading. If you’re looking for an editor who can transform your copy or lighten your workload, you’ve come to the right place. I check the basics such as grammar and spelling, but I will also assess the concept, meaning and overall structure and ensure that the text sticks to the brief and word count. Everyone makes mistakes, but sometimes they’re hard to spot when you’re close to the text. I can give your project a once-over before it’s immortalised in print or online to weed out any last-minute typos and inconsistencies. Overall, I believe communication is key, so I will work with you to ensure your text is saying what you want it to say in the right tone and presented in most suitable way to your project.
