I spent two years in marketing at the Riverhead Books and Viking Books imprints at Penguin Random House. I worked on marketing campaigns from start to finish, including native social media posts, paid ads, and influencer outreach. I also coached authors on the best way to find and connect with their audience on social media, and leverage any existing following. While there I worked with authors like Elizabeth Gilbert, Marlon James, Tana French, Lauren Groff, and more. Now I work at Atlas Obscura, a digital media company, where part of my job is using our social media platforms to promote our bestselling books. I've done extensive consulting and freelancing outside of these positions.
I took the Atlas Obscura Instagram from a messy, unprofessional account to a verified feed with a clean, consistent aesthetic. I’ve partnered with accounts like @accidentallywesanderson and @haarkon_ for content swaps, bringing in thousands of new followers in one fell swoop. When I started in November 2016, our Instagram had less than 40,000 followers and an engagement rate of 2.09%. Since then, I’ve brought us to more than 185,000 followers with a 5.07% engagement rate.
