Marilyn Horn-Fahey

Marilyn Horn-Fahey – Editor

Editor and proofreader with more than 30 years in the publishing industry.

Overview

I've worked on tech-heavy analysis (IoT, "as a service," digital transformation, etc.), textbooks (psychology, sociology, history), illustrated histories (e.g., I could tell you all about Galesburg, IL, if you are interested), and travel and lifestyle (Sunset Magazine). When I started out, we were still bluelining, but I've evolved along with the industry and am highly proficient with Word and Google Docs.

Besides being an editor for over 40 years, I also have a lot of writing experience. So when I edit, I'm always considering the writer of the piece. How would I feel if this piece was something I wrote? How would I want an editor to communicate with me? With that in mind, I'm honest but never brutal. I suggest, never insist. I keep the writer's voice intact and don't introduce my own. On top of all that, I'm deadline-conscious and detail-oriented and ready to get to work!
