Overview
I take on commissions ranging from copy editing children’s titles to developing and editing large-format illustrated reference books for international publishers. My areas of expertise are travel and transportation, history and popular culture, including extensive experience editing licensed books and magazines in collaboration with licensors ranging from Disney to Elvis Presley Enterprises, LEGO to the Ford Motor Company. I have edited numerous books for local markets, encompassing the Americanisation and Anglicisation of text.
I have worked closely and constructively with authors ranging from subject specialists to high-profile names including Sir Robert Winston, Sarah Beeny and Quentin Willson. Commendations include “Who’s edited my ******* text?! (from a rather grumpy Bruce Bernard, brother of Sir Jeffrey, while working on his Eyewitness Art – Van Gogh book) to “I couldn’t have done it without him” (Quentin Willson on his The Ultimate Classic Car Book) and “Special gratitude to Phil Hunt. You were very patient. I’ll get the drinks in” (Hugo Wilson on his Ultimate Harley-Davidson book).
I would summarise by saying that I am an editorial all-rounder, able to edit and manage projects on most subjects for all age ranges and always taking great pride in the work I produce. I have worked extensively for global publishers including Dorling Kindersley, Penguin Random House, Hachette, Channel 4 Books, Collins, Guinness Publishing and Eaglemoss (where I was the Editorial Manager of the Die-Cast Club team for three years until the company went into administration in July 2022).
