Kerri Landis

Kerri Landis – Editor

14+ years of publishing experience in developmental editing, copy editing, and proofreading. Specializing in non-fiction how-to books.

Overview

I am an accomplished, detail-oriented, and fast-learning editor with 14+ years of practical experience. Proven excellence in developmental editing, copy editing, proofreading, book production, and writing. I have experience with editing multiple subject areas, including woodworking, DIY, crafts, cooking, lifestyle, education, and medicine. Over my career, I've contributed my editorial eye to more than 100 titles. I also know the process of book making from beginning to end.

Whether you're looking for someone to help you flesh out an outline, jump into the nitty-gritty of a rough draft, or polish a near-final draft with a proofread, I can help. I'm well versed in editing without losing an author's voice, and can be as relaxed or nitpicky as you like. You can expect detailed notes from me, whether you prefer Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat PDF, or Adobe InDesign. Other than the standard markup for spelling, punctuation, and grammar, I also enjoy providing feedback on the flow of the piece to improve readability, and I will point out areas that I think would benefit from more information. By the end of the edit, you will have actionable feedback to get your writing ready to print--and hopefully some advice that will improve your future writing as well.

Although I never personally met Kerri Landis, my feeling throughout the editing process was that he was an old friend who happened to be a highly skilled editor who was doing everything possible to make my book a success. He understood what I was trying to communicate, and I felt that he was rooting for me. His high level of effort remained the same from the first page to the last, and he had e...

Kerri was a true professional to work with from the beginning to the end of this project. I decided to write a "how to" book and Kerri's experience in that field immediately stood out, which is why I opted to work with her. At the beginning, she provided a sample of how she edits using the first several pages of my book, and her feedback was exactly what I envisioned. She then set expectatio...
