Overview

I've been working with words for nearly a decade... but I've been a reader much longer than that. I have a BA in English, French, and Italian and an MFA in poetry, and I cut my teeth at Pelican Publishing (Gretna, LA), one of the largest trade publishers in the South. I've since edited both freelance and professionally across diverse genres.

A bit about my editorial approach: My goal as an editor—no matter where in the process—is to ensure that the reading experience is the best it can be. By making sure the language is consistent and understandable, I can help you hone in on the best way to communicate your meaning and connect with your readers. That means supporting and sharpening your voice—not advocating for my own. I stay positive, productive, and professional across the working experience.

Abi went way above and beyond my expectations! She was extremely communicative and detailed in her approach, and her analysis of my character development revealed a major flaw with the story that now can be corrected. Her work was worth everything I paid and more. I cannot offer a higher recommendation for anyone looking for a solid children’s story editor. Thank you Abi!

Abi did an excellent job throughout her edit of my manuscript. She had good attention to detail, helpful comments, and was available for followup questions. She provided an overview of her methods and stuck to them.

Abi is a fantastic editor! Very kind and professional, while also being very educational and helpful when it comes to whatever writing you are trying to improve. Her notes did not take away from my voice as a poet, only caused me to think more critically on the formation of the poem from start to finish which allowed my poems to grow and improve. Highly recommend!
