Overview

Hello! I am a children's book illustrator, graphic designer, and even dabble with writing. With over 25 years in the creative business, I operate as an independent graphic design and illustration studio in Belmont, North Carolina (just outside of Charlotte). My specialty is character development for companies geared towards children as well as children's book illustration. My illustrations are produced digitally utilizing my iPad Pro and the Procreate app. I also work on a 27" iMac with a 13" Wacom Cintiq mainly in vectors using Adobe Illustrator. Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign as well.

I really enjoy creating whimsical characters and love to infuse my work with humor. My style would be described as fun, colorful, playful, a bit on the cartoony side.

It is my goal to bring each client's vision to life, and communication is key. I pride myself on being easy to work and efficient. I've work directly with authors from creating the storyboard, characters and page art from sketch to finish as well as page layout and text placement. You could call me a one-stop-shop as I have art direction background, plus illustration as well as graphic design skills to offer.

What I Tell Myself FIRST: Children's Real-World Affirmations of Self Esteem

Michael A Brown

A lot of adults have dark roads. Started from when they were young. The hug they didn't get. The pain they didn't learn to manage because mom and/or dad patched mostly all of their wounds and fought mostly all their battles. Travelling through life, hearing "You're fat." "You're slow." You're not like us." "You're ugly." "I felt disrespected when he said..." "No one loves me." "I fell for this... read more

My Mother Is My Friend

Kimberly P. Johnson

All of these little animals have something great to share, and it makes it even greater to know that someone's there! A very loving friendship to last everyday - A few words of wisdom to help them find their way. They don't need very much - from each one or the other. They have everything they need because they have their mother!

It's Time For School - A Wonderful Day!!

Kimberly P. Johnson

I place my smile upon my face, to share with others in every place. Kindness and character matter to me - I'm truthful and honest about what I see. If you wear a smile, then maybe you'll know - how the seeds of "good character" look when they grow!

Highly recommend Zoe. Her illustrations are wonderful, but that's only the start. Great communicator. Great collaborator. Understood my vision. Delivered early. I will hire her again in the future.
