Adam Wilson – Editor

New York Times bestselling editor with 15+ years in editorial acquisition & development across genres, age groups, and interests

Overview

As an editor with over 15 years of experience in acquisitions, story development, and brand management across a wide range of commercial categories, my journey in publishing has been fun, if unorthodox for its lack of a narrow focus. Nearly seven years at Harlequin doing young adult, sci fi, and romance, years copywriting for DC Comics, and another seven years at Simon & Schuster’s Gallery Books publishing fiction, pop culture nonfiction, SFF, YA crossover, graphic novels, and whatever else the popular market was hungry for.

At Gallery, I co-launched Gallery 13—the company’s first dedicated adult graphic novel imprint; ran Derek Jeter’s Jeter Publishing imprint; innovated publishing models in partnership with Wattpad; and acquired a broad range of literary and commercial fiction and nonfiction. Highlights of my editorial career include discovering global publishing superstars Christina Lauren (Beautiful Bastard) and Anna Todd (After), restoring the V.C. Andrews franchise to the bestseller lists, and proudly publishing debut and bestselling authors of all stripes like Benjamin Whitmer, Andrea Kane, Jennifer Estep, Robert Levy, Jeff Somers, Sophie Littlefield, Heather Graham, JB Smoove, Michael Kupperman, and Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith.

This varied experience has taught me that every writer is different, has different needs, strengths, and concerns, and that collaboration is the key to a successful project of any sort.
