Overview
My ethos as an editor is to hone and strengthen the writer's unique voice. As much as possible, I don't seek to re-write; rather, I look for ways to allow the writer express him or herself more effectively. I also approach each book and author individually, rather than following a template, as different authors and subject matter can call for different approaches. Above all, I am always willing to closely communicate on any feedback, problem areas, and other concerns.
I offer proofreading, copyediting, and developmental editing. If you're looking for a combination, or something more atypical, don't hesitate to ask!

Work experience
Self-employed
I have worked for about five years as a full-time freelance journalist and copywriter, and three years as a book editor—but have taken on short editing projects for nearly a decade. When it comes to longer-form editing, I specialize in varied nonfiction, including personal and critical essay, memoir, self-help and how-to, and religion and spirituality. As a writer, I have experience in journalism, creative nonfiction, fiction, and poetry—and also commercial copywriting, including marketing/advertising.
