Wesley Salazar

Wesley Salazar – Editor

Editor with an eye for market viability and a positive attitude. I'd be thrilled to read, edit, or help you develop your adult/kids' book!

Overview

My unique background in publishing makes me an ideal sounding board and collaborator for your book. I believe it's a true honor to read and edit others' words, and I'd love to help you create the best possible content for your reader.

I began my career at Penguin USA, where I worked on campaigns for both fiction and nonfiction authors, including Ross Ritchell, David Mark, Daniel Pyne, Annabelle Gurwitch, and the late Michael Hastings and Stuart Scott.

In 2015, I joined Brightly, a Webby-nominated website in partnership with Penguin Random House, as an editor. I solicited and edited a variety of kids' book-inspired content such as author interviews and essays, thematic book lists, and reviews for the site.

I recently transitioned to freelance editing and writing full-time, and I'm actively looking for exciting new projects to work on. I'm particularly interested in reading, editing, and reviewing children's and middle grade books, YA, adult fiction, and gift books (inspirational books, journals, calendars, etc.).

Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about my background and/or think I might be a good fit for your next project!

Wesley is so much more than an editor, she is an amazing writing coach. Through her thoughtful and thorough assessment of my manuscript, I was able to get outside of my head and refocus on why I was writing. Like a great teacher that critiques without stifling creativity, Wesley gently reminded me that no matter how much as a writer I am moved by my own stories, the reader still needs my carefu...

Working with Wesley was an excellent experience. I learned a lot and I dare say I had some fun. It's not everyday you come across someone so helpful they leave you wondering why you wasted so much time worrying you'd hit a wall you'd never get over. I appreciate all the work and thought Wesley put into my editorial assessment, and she put a lot into it, much above and beyond what I expected wa...
