Overview

I'm a published children's author, editor and freelance film journalist. I've written fiction for two major franchises - STAR WARS and WARHAMMER - alongside original works including the upcoming FLOODWORLD. I spent 9 years as Assistant UK Film Editor at Time Out magazine, which entailed extensive editing and proofreading as well as writing reviews, features and online content. I also have a Masters degree in Screenwriting with a specialisation in Script Editing.

I have an in-depth understanding of how to tell a story, from mapping out plots and character arcs to polishing the final manuscript. I'm a considerate and sympathetic editor - after all, I've been there myself. From fantasy fiction and sci-fi to books or articles on film and TV, I'm here to help make your work as good as it can be.

Self-employed
May, 2016 – Present (over 3 years)

I currently work as a freelance author, editor, proofreader, journalist and all-round content provider. My focus is on writing fiction for younger readers - my latest novel FloodWorld is out in October 2019. I also write franchise fiction, including the Warhammer Adventures and Star Wars: Adventures in Wild Space series. I currently edit and proofread copy for a major London-based pop-up cinema company, The Nomad, and I work as a freelance film and TV journalist for The Guardian, Sight and Sound, Little White Lies and Time Out, among others. I've written and edited all kinds of content including for the Royal Mail stamp collections and DVD booklet essays.

Assistant UK Film Editor

Time Out London
April, 2008 – June, 2017 (about 9 years)

I was the Assistant UK Film Editor at Time Out magazine in London, writing film reviews, features, interviews and extensive online copy. My reviews were published worldwide, including in Time Out's New York edition.

I also edited and proofread extensively, and regularly prepared the film pages for publication. I commissioned and edited reviews from freelance writers, and posted reviews to the magazine's online platform. I developed a keen eye for spelling and grammatical errors in both American and British English.

Writer and Editor

Electric Sheep Magazine
June, 2006 – March, 2008 (over 1 year)

I wrote reviews, features and interviews for a London-based film magazine and website, as well as proofreading and editing other writers' reviews and features. I also wrote and designed the monthly film crossword.

Writer and Editor

Not Coming to a Theater Near You

I wrote film and TV reviews, features and interviews for a highly regarded US-based film website. I also proofread and edited the work of other writers, learning the differences between US and UK English.
