Tim Marquitz

Tim Marquitz – Editor

I am an author and editor and have worked with hundreds of authors from debut to NYT Bestsellers.

Overview

I'm an agented author and an editor since 2009 and have worked in the publishing business on both sides, having also worked as a publisher.

I can help polish your project from the ground up, offering assistance should your goal be self-publishing or finding an agent/publisher. I've experience in most every genre, and I understand maintaining an author's voice and vision, while sharpening and honing the prose and presentation. It's my job to enhance YOUR book and make it shine.

I specialize in fantasy, horror, dystopian, sci-fi, and LitRPG, but have experience in all genres. (No single short stories, please, but collections are fine.)

Self-employed

Sep, 2009 — Present

I have worked with some of the biggest names in fantasy and horror, to include Mark Lawrence, Carol Berg, Laura Resnick, Larry Correia, Michael J. Sullivan, James Swallow, Gini Koch, and many more. Lots of experience in most every genre, as well as practical experience in query writing and back cover matter. I also charge well below market rate for excellent work.

“Dominion Editorial were an absolute pleasure to work with. They tolerated my pestering with aplomb (or maybe it was a plum) and got the job done in spite of my ridiculous deadline. Sure, they don’t love semicolons quite as much as I do, but that can be forgiven.”
– Michael R. Fletcher, author of the Manifest Delusions series
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Dominion Editorial did a fantastic job at short notice. They are professional and take every care to make sure your project is as good as it can be.”
– Graham Austin-King, author of The Riven Wyrde Saga
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Dominion Editorial have edited several of my works and each time they have helped to make them better manuscripts. They are thorough and efficient while still allowing my voice to lead the story. I cannot compliment their work enough and I plan on continuing to use their services.”
– Kirk Dougal, author of Dreams of Ivory and Gold, Jacked, and Reset
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Fast, professional, and reasonably priced, Dominion Editorial’s editing gave my first novel the help it needed to shine. I highly recommend Dominion to anyone who’s in the market for editing services.” – James Aquilone, author of Dead Jack and the Pandemonium Device
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Tim Marquitz has a writer’s eye for the kind of structural issues and minutiae that tend to slip past most proofreaders. He’ll work a manuscript till it’s lean and mean.”
– Edward M. Erdelac, author of the Merkabah Rider series, Andersonville, and more.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Dominion Editorial gave me some fantastic feedback and pointed out some consistent technical mistakes that I’ve been making. I’m very grateful to Tim for not only making a ton of corrections in the manuscript, but pointing out these consistent issues so I can improve on them for future books.”
– Andrew Rowe, author of Attuned
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Dominion Editorial’s process was easy and they made sure to explain it before they got started, offering to answer any questions I had before and after. Along with basic spelling and grammar corrections, they pointed out anything that needed work and offered a thought on how to make it better. Once I got the notes and started working through them, they even dropped me a message to see if I was doing okay with them and if there was anything I needed further help with. And if all of that wasn’t enough, they offered some very supportive thoughts on the story as a whole, going so far as to say it’s a ‘great story.'”
-Ashe Armstrong, author of Grimluk, Demon Hunter
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Dominion Editorial have edited several of my works. Their careful attention to detail and invaluable feedback have challenged me to push the limits of my ability for better overall writing. They are expedient, honest, and have quick turnaround times. I would highly recommend their services to any writer, beginner or otherwise.”
– Eric Fomley, author
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Tim Marquitz and Dominion Editorial added a much needed level of polish to my manuscript. Not only was Tim extremely professional, his work was turned around in record time. My highest recommendation.”
– Timothy W. Long, author of Impact Earth: Symbiosis and more.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I highly recommend Dominion. Easy to work with and spot on with the edits. I recently sold a novel after using their services. The publisher commented the level of polish on the ms helped seal the deal.”
– Kathryn M. Hearst, author of the SINISTRA DEI series and more.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“A consummate professional and communicative, my experience with Tim Marquitz resulted in a manuscript that was made better by leaps and bounds. Issues were identified with thoughtful observation that was paired with quality suggestions for improvement. I cannot speak highly enough of Tim’s editing abilities, so much so that I would recommend any author looking to get their manuscript ready to go to him first. Every cent spent was worth it!”
– Jay Requard, author of Jishnu
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“What I enjoyed most about Tim’s edits on Galefire was the focus on making the piece an overall smoother read and his input on clearing up character inconsistencies and plot confusion. That kind of accurate (if sometimes brutal) honesty is hard to find, and Galefire is a tremendously better book because of it. Thanks, guys!”
– Kenny Soward, author of the Gnomesaga and Galefire
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I want to thank Tim Marquitz for his work on my novella. His editing on my manuscript helped to create the finely-tuned story I am proud of today. His professional attitude, quick communication and attention to detail are second to none, and I’d recommend Dominion Editorial services to anyone seeking help with formatting and editing.”

Tim was very professional and pleasant to work with. I'm new to writing and made quite a few mistakes that I wasn't aware of, and Tim showed me where I needed to improve on in a professional manner. I highly recommend him.

I hired Tim in May 2021 with the understanding he would do a detailed edit on my 400 page fiction piece and I was very excited because he writes in the a similar universe as I. Just looking him up on the internet, I was excited. He kept stringing me along. At first, I gave him 4 months before I expected to hear from him. Then November, Then December and monthly from then forward. Finally he adm...

I couldn’t be more thrilled with the results I received. Tim’s patience with an aspiring author is commendable. Tim went well above and beyond what was expected. My writing improved as a direct product of his correction. I really appreciate the time and effort Tim put into working on my manuscript. My only wish would be for for a higher rating to bestow. Thank you, sir. You are truly an inspi...

Tim provided excellent editing for my first novel. The timeline stretched out further than expected, but the work was of high quality. I did have to go through and do another edit to catch a few small items, but Tim definitely helped make the story a much more professional manuscript.
