My editing philosophy is to edit with care: care for the rules, and care for the work. By the rules, I uphold the standards of spelling, grammar, and style, but I balance that with a care for the author, publisher, reader, and work. In other words, I know the rules, but I know how to make the rules serve the writing, instead of the other way around.
