Overview
I have helped hundreds of authors (many of whom are best sellers) and reviewed millions of pages of prose over nearly two decades working in direct author services. I have reviewed and written hundreds of business plans, grant proposals, blog posts, websites, and marketing materials for businesses and entrepreneurs. My first published book (The Loan Solution, Kaizen Publication, 2007) helped me to secure a nomination by the US Small Business Administration as a financial services advocate of the year. Since then, I have edited/written several books for first-time business authors needing credibility and exposure. Fortune 100 executives, speakers, consultants, and business professionals are regularly among my clients.
I also attract inspiring authors in the self-help, personal development, and mind/body/spirit genres. What a joy! A few of my clients were featured in the movie and book, The Secret. As a certified Ho'oponopono practitioner and mentor, I inspire and educate my clients to complete their book projects with joyful anticipation. Positive energy creates positive results, and I help my clients to generate both.
Though most of my work is currently for book-length manuscripts, I also help with "content chunking" for my clients, which includes editing the content in their books for use in blog posts, social media content, and articles.
For Reedsy, my focus includes editing for emerging and experienced nonfiction authors who have a positive message to share with the world. Preferred topics include business, leadership, entrepreneurship, success, finance, self-help, mind/body/spirit, and positive, prescriptive memoir. I work with clients across the globe from my office in the Charlottesville, Virginia, USA area. (Recorded teleconference calls are quite common.) I received a BS in Commerce & MBA in two area schools where I have also taught (the University of Virginia and James Madison University).

Tanya Brockett is a seasoned editor, ghostwriter, speaker, and publishing mentor whose purpose is to motivate, educate, and inspire others to create positive experiences in their lives through words, both spoken and written.
Tanya fulfills this purpose by inspiring authors, experts, and entrepreneurs to ditch the fear and overwhelm so they can write and edit a bestseller-worthy book that boosts their brands, increases their impact, and leaves a legacy. For her clients, Tanya also provides manuscript evaluations, performs several levels of copyediting, writes back cover copy, helps with book descriptions, meets with agents and publishers, and more. Here is what one client had to say about working with Tanya:
“Tanya, you are amazing! I don’t think you know how amazing you are. I got more out of our one-hour conversation than I gained in ten, one-hour sessions with a business coach. Thank you!” —Alana K
Tanya helps authors to define and then achieve their goals. They gain confidence, knowledge, support, and drive to see their book projects come to fruition. No one has to do this alone.
In addition to being a copyeditor, ghostwriter, and mentor, Tanya is also a presenter on authorpreneurship nationwide. She has also developed online courses to help authors become authorpreneurs (make money with their books!) so they can learn and grow. Her recent short read, The New Writer Workbook: A Step-by-Step Guide to Writing Your Nonfiction E-Book, was written to help nonfiction authors to quickly learn how to produce a quality book to leverage their brand.
