Stevonnie Ross

Stevonnie Ross – Editor

Hi! I'm just your typical geeky nonbinary copyeditor and proofreader. Mostly I've worked on nonfiction and middle-grade/YA fiction.

Overview

I'm a passionate idealist, trying to make the world a better place, one comma at a time! But the world is a capitalist hellscape and I'm also trying to pay the rent. I'm good at grammar, style, being a stickler for the stuff that matters (truth, justice), and letting go of the stuff that doesn't (style rules that don't serve the work).

I'm particularly good at keeping track of timelines. If a protagonist starts a project on a Sunday, ten days pass, and now it's a Monday, I will notice. Past projects have involved confirming the time of sunset on a particular day in Chicago, checking that full moons occurred on dates when the plot called for them, and researching when wild asparagus grows in a particular area.

I don't use generative AI, nor will I work on anything that's involved generative AI at any point in its production.
