Overview
I have a scientific background (PhD in marine sciences), am an active researcher, and have vast experience with copy-editing, proof-reading, or substantive document editing of theses or peer-reviewed scientific publications for an academic audience in English (mainly in marine sciences, aquaculture, ecology, fisheries, avian biology, but also in health and medicine). I am open to editing documents in any discipline. At the time of writing my h-index is 17 and i10-index is 22. I am easy to work with, very hard working, and never miss a deadline.
I specialize in editing texts for ESL (English as a second language) authors, and those who have trouble writing or structuring a manuscript, who may be new to the process of publishing scientific papers and the complexities of peer-review, find formatting for specific journals tedious or challenging, or simply just need help writing a cover letter to accompany the submission of a manuscript or point-by-point response letter to address referee(s) concerns. Additionally, I have many years of experience with the editing or proofreading of academic theses (Masters and PhD), and can boast a 100% success rate (each student has been conferred their degree).
How does it work? After an electronic introduction (email or audiovisual) to discuss your needs, expectations, and deadlines, you send a manuscript file (complete file or representative sample text) to me in MS Word. I review the document and assess the level of editing required, then prepare a no-obligation quote for you. Once you accept my quote, I return to you within hours to 3 days (depending on the editing level required) for a conventional manuscript (< 10,000 words), or one week for a thesis (< 65,000 words), an edited and correctly formatted document. Corrections are made using the MS Word 'Track Changes' option. We go 'back and forth' typically up to two times for a manuscript (peer-reviewed publication) and three times (for an academic thesis) in series of clarification edits (free) until you are happy with the final edited document. We then conclude our business.
