Overview
I have received some lovely praise from my clients, such as: “I think the book is going to be amazing LARGELY in part to your efforts, patience, and skills”; “I applaud your work ethic”; “You were tremendous in your work”; “I SO appreciate the length and depth of your comments”; and “Oh my gosh. This is gorgeous and exactly what I was looking for. . . . You are so good at this.”
My editorial skills include both developmental editing (offering big picture advice on what to expand, cut, and rearrange) and copy editing (making the sentence-level writing correct and consistent).
Many of the books I’ve edited have a “natural world” bent to them, whether it be the memoir of a Mississippi river rat, an encyclopedic volume on raptors, an accessible dive into super volcanoes, the history of a deadly Lake Superior storm, or a picture book about the fascinating science behind snowflakes.
I have an MFA in Creative Writing, and I’ve taught writing at the college level. My goal in any editorial project is always to help the writer's voice and content shine through as powerfully as possible.
