A publisher with experience in trade, STM and self-publishing experienced in various editorial, production, and commissioning roles.
Overview
With over nine years of experience in both traditional and self-publishing across editorial, production, and commissioning roles, I bring a well-rounded, commercially minded skill set that directly aligns with various different projects.
In my position as Publisher at Trigger Publishing, I manage three active imprints and oversee a wide variety of titles in the non-fiction and children’s markets, often centred around themes of mental health, self-help, and lifestyle. I manage complex editorial schedules across multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring high-quality output while staying within budget and meeting tight deadlines. I regularly provide strategic guidance to authors, balancing their creative vision with market viability and production constraints.
In addition, I have extensive experience working with freelancers—commissioning, briefing, and managing editors, designers, and illustrators, as well as processing invoices and keeping track of financials. I have also negotiated translation and audio rights, worked closely with printers and suppliers to meet physical production deadlines, and successfully delivered titles for international markets.
Since being promoted to Publisher, my role is to oversee both Trigger Publishing, Upside Down and Sentio Publishing, the three publishing imprints of TriggerHub.
I continue to commission many bold, exciting, and commercial books for a predominantly non-fiction audience. for both imprints, ensuring the quality and subject fits well within our lists. I also work on the publishing schedules, giving editorial notes, dealing with author queries, budgeting, and pitching to foreign rights agents. I also manage relationships with designers and freelancers as well as managing a small in-house team.
I currently work on books in the genres of non-fiction and children’s picture books, all touching on the topic of mental health, self-help, personal development and lifestyle.

Whilst being Managing Editor and heading up the Sentio Publishing imprint, my focus was to oversee titles from inception through to publication, delivering them on time and to a high standard. I provide a high level of author care, helping to attract and retain the best talent, as well as commissioning bold, exciting, and commercial books for a wide audience. I was commissioning three titles a month.
Other priorities in my role included providing management support to the staff I oversee, managing and planning projects with copyeditors, designers and illustrators, negotiating translation rights and ensuring budgets and financial information / data are handled.
I currently work on books in the genres of non-fiction, fiction and children’s picture books, all touching on the topic of mental health and well-being.

In my first role at Sentio Publishing (formerly known as Cherish Editions) imprint, the self-publishing imprint of Trigger, I came on board to guide authors through the publishing process as seamlessly as possible and to garner positive feedback for Sentio. It was important for me to oversee each project throughout the process, making sure projects are on schedule and to a high quality, while also liaising with Trigger’s marketing team to produce marketing plans for each project, create cover design briefs, create press releases and write blog content, amongst other things.
Due to my commissioning background, I also begun providing support in commissioning new talent for Cherish Editions.

In my previous role at Artech House, I commissioned my own titles and seek out new authors and reviewers in a range of areas, including, cyber security, communications, and photonics. I worked on 15-25 projects at a time throughout the development process, which I have proven to complete on time and, at times, under budget. I planned and implemented development strategies and provide editorial guidance to ensure projects meet the market needs. I provided quality author care and diffused any difficult situations. I have handled contract negotiations to please the author, as well as the Publisher, and I am constantly assessing manuscripts and seeking out problems with word counts and art issues to eliminate as early as possible; by doing this, there have been times where books have been able to be published early on our schedule because of this.
