Sian Mavor

Sian Mavor – Editor

Freelance editor and writer with over 20 years' experience working in educational and non-fiction publishing.

Overview

As an experienced editor and writer, I’m good at working under pressure and enjoy getting my teeth into a project, and I will ensure clear communication throughout the process.

I think I’m a good team player, and in the past have lead teams of 5-10 people as well as managing teams of external freelancers. I enjoy the camaraderie of a project team, and feel that collaborating and sharing ideas and experiences brings out the best in all of us.

I’m also able to work well alone and enjoy the freedom to work at my own pace and to my own timetable (within given deadlines, of course!).

I'm conscientious and diligent with a happy and cheerful demeanour … most of the time!

Outside of work, I very much enjoy open water swimming, making lampshades, reading, gardening and travelling with my family.

I manage a team of 5 in-house editors and many external project managers and freelancers. I work on several multi-component ELT series at any time, so my role involves a lot of juggling and multi-tasking in order to ensure projects are content rich, on brand, on budget and on schedule! I work closely with colleagues and customers in the US, Latin America, Middle East, Europe and Asia on all projects.

I managed a team of freelancers and an external Project Manager working on several global series such as Impact and Time Zones 2e. I was also the key liaison with the authors of all the components for the Foundation level of Impact. I worked closely with the Boston-based and Singapore-based teams on all aspects of the development from concept through to publication.
