Sheila Hart

Sheila Hart – Designer

Every book I design is an original, custom designed to fit your story or topic of expertise.

Overview

I will bring that professional appearance your book needs to get noticed. I've been doing design in the publishing industry for 20+ years and have helped create over a hundred books of all types and genres, several that have been on the top seller lists. I specialize in children's books and books with unique layouts (in which every spread is fresh and speaks its own story). I also am great with large scale projects that require whip-smart organization and coordination. But honestly, there isn't a book format I would ever turn away, which is part of the reason I have had such success in this field. I really get a charge out of helping you make your work look spectacular.

Work experience

Self-employed

Jan, 1996 — Present
Books have been a big part of my business from the very start. My first project was a children’s book, and I have done an incredible array of titles since. Although the book industry has changed over that span of time, the public’s love for bound literature has not and the book industry remains vibrant. With 100+ titles to my name, I have worked with solo authors eager to self-publish and major publishing houses in need of outside design services. No book project is out of my bounds or capabilities. Every book I’ve designed has been an original. I do not work with templates so my designs stand out. There is no limit to where my clients work: New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Sydney, and more. If the internet works there, Ido too. What further sets me apart is my ability not just to design and mechanically produce books but also to help through the process of uploading and managing the completion of the project with any printer. I speak the language of printing and publishing and understand the process. I can direct the process so there are no costly mistakes. I meet deadlines and can offer competitive pricing. That’s part of the formula that has allowed me to thrive in this industry for so long.
