Work experience
Self-employed
I'm a published author, copyeditor, and proofreader with an eye for errors. I've been copyediting and proofreading for other writers for over twelve years, with many happy return clients. I'm a former library cataloguer and newspaper proofreader. I have five commercially published novels in romantic suspense and romantic adventure, plus numerous short stories for adults and children.
My job is to make your work look good, and I take that responsibility very seriously.
I look for typos, correct word usage, punctuation (clarity, natural pauses, whether it's just plain correct, and whether or not the writer prefers/uses the serial comma), grammar, paragraphing, readability, dialogue, flow, sentence structure, and so on.
I do fact-checking, unless its very technical material or it has an overwhelming number of facts.
My technique is word-by-word reading and repeated readings. I work with Track Changes in Microsoft Word .docx or .doc files. I also return a file with All Changes Accepted along with the file showing changes.
