Overview
I have worked in book publishing for almost 20 years, most recently as Editorial Director (non-fiction) for a Big 5 publisher for the last three years. I'm a very experienced structural editor and enjoy working closely with authors to help them to develop their ideas and to shape, structure and provide feedback on their manuscript.
I specialise in non-fiction and have extensive experience in the following subject areas: self-help, popular psychology, memoir, popular culture, social issues and the environment.
I'm encouraging, patient, extremely well-read and enthusiastic! I'll work with you and provide whatever you need, be it providing detailed feedback, big picture notes, encouragement, or ideas and suggestions. I have published a number of Amazon and Sunday Times bestsellers over the course of my career and love nothing more than working closely with authors to help them make their book the best it can possibly be.
'I was put in touch with Fritha while grappling with the soul-destroying and seemingly impossible task of cutting a first draft down by 100,000 words. From the first conversation to her last suggestions, I can’t imagine how editorial help could be more constructive. She fully engaged with the aims of the book, and asked insightful and revealing questions about what I was trying to achieve. Her suggestions for cutting and editing not only pointed the way to achieving massive word loss without losing the gist of the complex, interconnected stories I was trying to tell, but undoubtedly improved the book. Working with her on a task I was dreading was in fact unfailingly encouraging and positive. If you are looking for editorial support, I couldn’t recommend Fritha more highly.'

‘As a first timer, author the process of both writing and editing a book were new to me. I had reached a point with my manuscript where I couldn’t see the wood for the trees and realised that I needed support. Fritha's editorial input was invaluable. She helped me to step back and see the bigger picture, rearrange elements into the most coherent order as well as offer editorial changes and suggestions to help me reduce my word count while drawing out the key message I was trying to convey. Throughout it all Fritha guided me through the process with such patience, reassurance and clarity of vision that I felt able to move through this challenge and take my manuscript to the next stage. I would highly recommend her services.’
