Ron Currie

Ron Currie – Ghostwriter

Author, editor, bibliophile. Lover of story. A sharp editorial eye, and a different perspective. I give a hoot.

Overview

I'm an award-winning author of four novels, all of which have been published by Viking/Penguin. My books have been translated into more than fifteen languages, and have won awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the New York Public Library, and the American Library Association. In addition to fiction, I also work in memoir and narrative nonfiction, criticism, occasional journalism, and television. My shorter work has appeared in numerous publications, including the New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, Poets & Writers, and The Believer, and has been anthologized widely, including in the 2017 edition of the Pushcart Prize.

I'm also a teacher and editor with more than a decade's experience helping others with their books. As an editor and ghostwriter, I believe in the primacy of your voice--part of what I bring to the task is an ability to intuit what you're trying to accomplish and how, precisely, your story can best be told. Just as good fiction writers put themselves aside and assume the consciousness of their characters, good editors take a project for what it is, not for what they think it should be. Think of this as a form of mimicry, except instead of doing an impression of you in real time, I do it on the page.

I also offer a full suite of editorial and writing coach services, all of which can be fashioned to your project and budget.

I got started with editing and ghostwriting because I'd become weary of all my work being self-directed. It's simple: I care about other people's writing, I enjoy helping them make it better, and I have good instincts for doing so. Please be in touch if you think you might want to work together!
