Overview

I'm a seasoned editor and writer who's worked in just about every format: magazines, books, newspapers, websites, graphic novels, fiction, nonfiction, consumer-facing, specialty, daily deadline, licensed content, original IP, you name it. I know how to coach writers into producing their best work because I've collaborated with a jillion of them--both beginners and established authors--and because I'm a working writer myself. Strong background in service journalism, health and wellness, strange and speculative fiction, graphic novels, and unique book projects with a strong visual or design component.

My approach as an editor is to meet you where you are and help you move forward. I start by understanding your vision, your strengths as a writer, and the story you want to tell (there's always a narrative, even in nonfiction projects). Depending on your needs, we'll tack big picture issues like plot, tone, and voice, and drill down to nitty-gritty line edits that will improve readability. Whenever possible, I'll offer suggestions and alternatives so you can execute revisions based on your own intent and style.

If I'm your editor, I consider your success to be my success.

Rick is an incredible thinker who took my characters and story and really *got* what I was trying to do and where I wanted to go with them. He helped me see my characters in a new light, brought insights to them that I just could never have accessed on my own given my background. I return to his insights over and over again while writing, and I know that as long as he's in my corner I'll find m...
