Overview
I've been editing part time since 2012 and full time since 2017. I've edited essays, scholarly nonfiction, self-published books of various genres, and traditionally published novels. Over the past four to five years, I've edited over a hundred books, largely with Amazon Publishing, and worked with many best-selling authors. I usually edit according to The Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster, though I have experience working with other style guides and dictionaries. I love giving great manuscripts the polish that will let them reach their full potential. I've worked in many genres over the course of my career, but I especially enjoy editing literary fiction, fantasy, speculative fiction, and books with LGBTQ+ themes. As a lifelong writer myself, I know what it's like on the author's side of the editing process, and I'm always careful to take each author's preferences and style into account and bring consideration and empathy to my work. Most of my edits will concern technical issues such as grammar, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization, but I'll also note confusing or accidentally repetitive phrasing, issues with continuity, and incorrect real-world facts. When I'm finished editing, you'll receive the manuscript with my queries and edits noted in Track Changes as well as a style sheet that will, among other things, record exceptions I applied and explain common changes. After that, if you would find it helpful, you can respond to my queries and make your changes with Track Changes on, and I'll go through the edits again to make sure no new errors have been introduced. I'm communicative, consistent, thorough, and great with deadlines.
