Overview
In the last 15 years, I have worked on many projects in different genres and fields – from art and scholarly to poetry and trade – and have acquired a good knowledge of the publishing industry, both through experience and formal education (Master of Publishing degree).
My interest in book design started when I interned at an academic press while doing my bachelor's in graphic design. From that point on, I knew this was the path I had to pursue. At my first job at a small art publisher, I got the chance to work on all aspects of book production – cover and interior design, typesetting, and print production. Often I would meet in person with authors and artists to discuss their projects. Listening and receiving feedback has become an integral part of my work. Since that first job, I've read a lot about book design and put it into practice on diverse covers and interiors that came my way. My passion for books and the publishing industry keeps growing and I see each new project as a chance to dive into a new universe and learn about interesting people and subjects.
When you hire me you can expect different suggestions and concepts that will be refined as we go along, until you feel your words are properly translated into imagery. My style tends to be more rational and clean, and I'm especially attentive to typographical details. I know how to take the most out of typesetting software, but only as an aid to my trained eye.
