Rachel Broderick

Rachel Broderick – Editor

Copy editor and proofreader with seven years of experience in book publishing. I specialize in romance and mystery.

Overview

I started working for Random House when its entire backlist was being converted into digital. As you can imagine, this exposed me to quite a variety of books. When I decided to shift my focus to copy editing and proofreading, my appreciation for the breadth of successful books out in the world helped me tune in to the unique style of each author. Not that I don't pay attention to the rules--one of the most nerve-racking experiences of my career was being asked to serve as a cold reader on DREYER'S ENGLISH. (He devotes an entire page to "racking" versus "wrecking.")

Though my work with book publishers means that my comments, queries, and corrections are passed on to authors by production editors, I'm often requested again by new authors and veteran authors alike. And since I maintain clients in advertising as well, I do have experience working directly with writers. Especially on a deadline!
