Overview
As an editor with 15 years of experience at top publishing houses, I've spent my career evaluating, acquiring, and editing manuscripts for publication, so I have a clear sense of what publishers and readers are looking for. In addition to working with authors directly, I've held management positions at several houses, where I've trained and mentored other editors in this work. I'm deeply passionate about collaborating with writers to create great books.
I've worked on a wide range of books, but I specialize in:
· cookbooks and cocktail books
· health and wellness
· relationships
· pop-culture and humor books
I'm proud to say that I've worked with heavy-hitters like Gwyneth Paltrow, Mario Batali, Daniel Boulud, and Nev Schulman to create bestselling books.
In recent years, I've also added fiction to my list. I've worked on genre fiction (sci-fi, romance, and horror), but I love working on fiction of all kinds, so I'm particularly keen to add more to my roster.
When it comes to my clients, I'm committed to quality and empathy. I have a thorough understanding of the ways in which each book is intended for a unique audience, so I like to begin my work with clients by discussing (and sometimes helping them discover) who we are trying to reach with the book project. My goal is help clients craft the book of their dreams -- and to make sure they will reach that intended reader.

Self-employed
I work with clients (writers, agents, editors, businesses) to perfect written copy -- through developmental editing, structural editing, line editing, proofreading, and copyediting-- as well as create content strategy and provide product launch consultations.
Cameron Books / Abrams
As the Editorial Director at Cameron Books, my job was to acquire and edit books to expand our publishing program, as well as manage our editorial team of 11 people. I acquired ~20-30 book projects per year, and picked ~3 books per season to edit personally, while assigning the other books to my team members.
Callisto Media
At Callisto, I generated book ideas, then acquired and edited those books, and shepherded them through all stages of production from concept and title creation, to making trim size, page count, and design decisions, to editing and overseeing the stages of passes and proofs.
After two years, I was promoted to Executive Editor and was asked to lead one of our editorial teams, where I managed 8 editors as they ushered our books through the production process.
While serving in that role, I was tapped by the COO to be in charge of Quality Control, which entailed reviewing and approving (or not) every book the company produced before it was sent to the printer to ensure it delivered on its promise to the reader, both in terms of content and accuracy.
Chronicle Books
At Chronicle Books, I acquired and edited ~10-15 books per year in the categories of narrative nonfiction, pop-culture, humor, travel, trivia, sports, as well as celebrity and brand-licensed books.
I project-managed each book and shepherded them through all stages of production. I also wrote the jacket copy, catalog copy, and sales copy for each project.
Hachette Book Group
At Hachette (one of the "Big 4" corporate publishing houses), I got a stellar education in acquiring and editing books. I shadowed two Executive Editors and cut my teeth with the best in the business. After a few years, I began acquiring and editing my own projects.
