Oliver Holden-Rea

Oliver Holden-Rea – Editor

An editor for 15+ years at some of the world's biggest publishers, I have edited and published numerous bestselling books and great authors.

Overview

For my entire career, I have worked within Adult Trade publishing, editing a mixture of fiction and non-fiction at some of the largest companies and most prestigious lists in the UK.

I began my career at Bloomsbury, working with some of the most incredible novelists and non-fiction writers ever published, including Margaret Atwood, Khlaed Hosseini, Madeline Miller, Aminatta Forna, Nadine Gordimer, Ben Macintyre and Peter Frankopan. After Bloomsbury, I moved to Bonnier, where I helped edit and publish some huge books, including memoirs by Robbie Williams, Roger Daltrey, Lily Allen, Jenson Button and Kate Garraway, titles by influencers like Pixiwoo and Ben Phillips, and special projects from brands like The Crown and The Big Issue.

I was most recently Editorial Director for Non-Fiction at both Welbeck and Headline, part of Hachette UK, and in my years in those roles was lucky enough to personally publish and edit a huge number of Sunday Times bestselling authors, such as Melanie C (Sporty Spice), Andy McNab, Otto English, Robert Verkaik and, most recently, legend Martin O'Neill.

In my short time freelancing, I have ghostwritten books, consulted with numerous unpublished writers (one of whom now has an agent) and been doing structural editing for Viking, one of Penguin's most acclaimed lists.

I love helping authors find and connect to readers, and I greatly enjoy using my experience as an editor, ghostwriter and book doctor to make that happen. As I always say to my authors: it's your book, I'm just here to make sure your story is the best it can be and finds the wide readership it deserves.
