Nitza Jones – Editor

Experienced copy editor and proofreader for psychology, business and management texts. Seven years experience at Springer.

Overview

I have over twenty years’ experience editing and proofreading non-fiction texts in psychiatry, business and management. I've been working at Springer for the past 7 years in acquisitions writing and proofing metadata and copy for business and management text, research and professional books. With this experience, I know first-hand what acquisition editors are looking for in book proposals, marketing text and the shaping of content for particular audiences such as professionals, academics, students and scholars. In my capacity as acquisitions editor, I have a proven track record in nurturing authors, their ideas and manuscripts. I’ve also assisted book series and journal editors in writing marketing copy for their series and journal web pages.

Before working at Springer, I worked for 10 years on clinical psychiatric textbooks including researching, ghostwriting, copy editing and proofreading. In this capacity, I worked on several new editions of 5 titles in the
Kaplan & Sadock clinical psychiatry textbook series, for a total of 16 textbooks.

In my early career, I wrote local newspaper articles and reviewed and proofed manuscripts for both children and fiction books.

With this experience I can provide tailor-made services from a critique of your book proposal to a development edit of your manuscript, tackling structure, style and scope, and including a list of key recommendations. Alternatively, you may just need a consultation on how to approach publishers with your manuscript or book idea. I can provide these services for both fiction and non-fiction titles as well as short stories, essays and journal articles.
