Nicola Robson – Designer

I’m a UK-based children’s book author and illustrator creating expressive, characterful artwork for picture books, early readers and illustrated fiction for older children.

My illustration style combines loose, lively ink lines with rich colours and playful textures, bringing stories to life through humour, movement and personality. I love creating quirky, memorable characters, from the wonderfully ordinary to the slightly ridiculous, and filling illustrations with little details that invite readers to look closer.

As both an author and illustrator, I understand the importance of visual storytelling, pacing and character development. Whether it’s a colourful picture book, an adventurous chapter book or an illustrated story for reluctant readers, I aim to create artwork that feels full of life and encourages children to keep turning the pages.

Having been diagnosed with autism and ADHD as an adult, I’m also particularly passionate about stories that celebrate individuality, imagination, emotional understanding and the joy of being yourself.

I offer cover design, full interior illustration and book layout, and enjoy collaborating with authors and publishers to create engaging, distinctive books that children can truly connect with.
