Molly Price

Molly Price – Editor

Magazine and book editor (worked at Monocle, ELLE Decoration, Country Living, Today's Quilter) specialising in travel, design and sewing.

Overview

Hello, I'm Molly, a cheerful and encouraging developmental editor and proofreader with 10+ years of experience in crafting non-fiction illustrated titles. The former head of Monocle's book department, I have an excellent eye for design and photography, with practical experience in creating cool and creative coffee table titles that are as useful as they are beautiful. While at Monocle, I project managed and edited the brand's high-end travel series, The Monocle Handbook, as well as titles on design, photography and business.

I cut my editorial teeth working as a production editor in magazine publishing. I worked at Hearst's ELLE Decoration and Country Living for 18 months, as well as at Immediate Media's creative craft magazines for three years. I have the technical ability (and passion) to work on craft topics including papercraft, sewing (quilting/home furnishings and dressmaking), and knitting.

I am a freelance editor, writer and proofreader offering a range of services from full editorial project management and developmental editing to proofreading. I have worked with book publishers including Pavilion Books, Octopus Publishing Group and Elwin Street Productions, as well as online tech company Boardwave.

Monocle

Oct, 2020 — Jul, 2023 (almost 3 years)

As the head of Monocle's book publishing department, I pitched, edited and project-managed all of the brand's high-quality coffee table books, ensuring that everything from the structure to copy and layout designs were working as hard as possible and were error-free.

Projects include (but are not limited to):
- Swim and Sun
- The Monocle Handbook Series (Portugal, Spain and France)
- The Monocle Book of Homes
- The Monocle Book of Gentle Living
- The Monocle Book of Italy
- The Monocle Book of Entrepreneurs

Hearst

Mar, 2019 — Oct, 2020 (over 1 year)

I was a sub-editor across three of Hearst's interiors and lifestyle titles: ELLE Decoration, House Beautiful, and Country Living. As the sub-editor, I ensured all copy across the three monthly magazines was error-free while working towards three differing deadlines. My role also included crafting and scheduling social media posts.

Immediate Media

Sep, 2016 — Mar, 2019 (over 2 years)

As the Production Editor at two of Immediate Media's craft magazine titles – Cardmaking and Papercraft and Today's Quilter – I commissioned craft projects and edited copy (including for technical projects) for each monthly issue. During my time at Immediate Media, I also wrote freelance content for Today's Quilter's sister sewing magazine, Simply Sewing.
