Overview
I've been in the book business since 2000. I spent the first five years of my career as an in-house editor (North Atlantic Books, Auralog Paris) before making the jump to freelancer. I’ve worked on a variety of projects, from coffee table and photography books (La Martinière Groupe, Flammarion) to travel and children's titles (Lonely Planet, La Martinière) to textbooks and thought-provoking academic studies (University of California Press, Columbia University Press, Georgetown University Press).
As a published author, I have been on both sides of an editor's query—I always try to collaborate in a way that allows you to best realize your vision without sacrificing editorial integrity. My background in languages (Chinese, French) has provided me with many opportunities to work with writers from around the world.
More about my personal life: I spent four years in the PRC and Taiwan memorizing Chinese characters and ten years in Paris eating croissants. During this time, I authored guides to Paris, Provence, the French Alps, Dordogne, Shanghai, and China for Lonely Planet, Rough Guides, National Geographic Traveler, and Fodor's.
In these days of reduced travel, I usually spend my free time outdoors: I love rock climbing, canyoneering, backpacking, and skiing, and have written several audio scripts and bestselling travel guides to US national parks for Lonely Planet and Guide Along.
