Overview
I am passionate about bringing more stories into the world. As an editor at one of the big five publishers, HarperCollins Publishers, I honed my editorial abilities over countless manuscripts in both non-fiction and fiction. I have lots of hands-on experience working with authors and I have interviewed many at book festivals. I have also worked as a freelance book reviewer for The Paris Review, Guardian, Irish Times, and others, and therefore I am experienced at accurately distilling a book down to the bare bones and identifying what makes good writing truly stand out. Before working as an editor I was a bookseller for several years.
I can help you to find the voice in your writing and provide a developmental edit. I have extensive experience copyediting and proofreading also. I can help you work out how to pitch your idea and what books are good comps when speaking with editors and agents. I'm interested in projects related to literary fiction, food writing or nonfiction about literature, among other genres. You can expect a friendly, encouraging and professional manner from me and clear dates and timelines.
