Overview
My priorities as an editor are twofold: to honor the voice of the author and maximize impact for the reader. I'm an expert copy editor and proofreader, trained in the details of grammar and style, and an experienced line and developmental editor.
I have extensive experience with art, design, fashion, and photography books, and I aspire to help writers and publishers polish manuscripts in a broader range of subjects—both nonfiction and fiction.
When you first reach out, I'll want to know:
- What you think the project needs: strengthening specific parts, a careful eye at the sentence level, or anything in between.
- The project's genesis, thesis, aims, and intended audiences.
- Dry things like word count, scope, and timeline.
- More about you! What the project means to you and whatever you'd like to share to begin a successful partnership.
While I'm at work editing, you can expect:
- An early check-in (if desired) about my work on a chapter or two, to make sure it's in line with what you're looking for.
- Fast and thoughtful replies to your notes and questions.
- Lots of communication about my decision-making in the manuscript. I won't make changes to content or meaning without querying you.
- I'll meet my deadlines: I always return materials as agreed.
- A commitment to you, the product, and high standards of excellence.

Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
Among other responsibilities, I write and edit (substantive, line, and copyedit) many of the museum’s external communications, which include the website; print and digital collateral for marketing, education, and membership; and interactive and digital media. I maintain excellent editorial standards including accuracy, clarity, brand voice, and style.

Among other responsibilities, I established workflows, schedules, and budgets for all book projects; assigned freelancers and reviewed their work; coordinated between museum staff, contributors, designers, and printers. I also line edited, copyedited, fact checked, proofread, trafficked, color corrected, and managed production for three to four books a year.

As Assistant Editor, I ran the online aggregated news operation in collaboration with staff and freelance editors: sourced news stories for the website, assigned writers, edited posts, and maintained relationships with writers. As Assistant Editor and Researcher, I worked with a supervising editor on Song Stories, an ambitious first-time digital initiative: developed and carried out leadoff workflow and procedures; managed about thirty writers; reviewed entries for quality; copyedited; wrote entries; and helped with social media campaigns.
