Overview

Writing a book is an intimidating process. Inviting partners into the journey can help improve your story, so you can better engage your reader.

Are you wondering if:

• Your characters are fully developed?

• There's a plot hole needing filled?

• Your story is engaging?

• You're ready to query agents?

• Your book is as good as your mother tells you it is?

Whether it's an editorial assessment or developmental edits, I can provide feedback and encouragement to help you improve your manuscript and strenghten your story. I am an historical fiction author and freelance writer/editor. For 15 years, I have helped clients tell more effective and engaging stories. I specialize in adult fiction and dabble in a few non-fiction genres.

Each book is unique and I don’t simply bring words to a project. I work to understand your vision, voice, and preferred style. I incorporate my years of marketing experience to speak to and more fully engage the intended reader/target audience.

After receiving a B.A. in English from Indiana University, I built a career as a storyteller and freelance writer for brands, blogs, and organizations, and acted as publisher and editor of a literary journal. Currently, I am the author of two historical fiction novels that will be available from Sourcebooks. This career path has taught me the importance of storytelling and has fueled a passion in me to help others tell better stories.

You have a story to tell. I have an outsider's perspective that can recognize strengths and weaknesses. I'd love to talk about your story and see how we can work together. Contact me today.

REVIEWS:

"Meagan is an editor with a writer's heart and a keen ear for story. When she provided feedback on my novel, her insightful comments helped me tighten up and hone the manuscript's strengths, as well as figure out some pesky weaknesses and what I could do to bolster those. She was great fun to work with and I loved that all her feedback felt conversational and practical, just like talking to a friend and fellow book-lover!" ~ Lisa DeSelm, author of THE PUPPETMASTER'S APPRENTICE

“Meagan Church understands her clients’ needs and is able to articulate those needs to perfection. Her ability to take a rough draft and turn it into an informational piece of writing has helped me more times than I can count. I highly recommend her editing services and invaluable ghostwriter skills.” ~ Melanie Hempe, author of THE SCREEN STRONG SOLUTION: HOW TO FREE YOUR CHILD FROM ADDICTIVE SCREEN HABITS

“Meagan is proactive, often bringing ideas to the table. She is very creative and has the ability to zero in on the desired tone of the given project. In particular, I enjoy the ‘edgy’ style of writing she has done for us. Meagan is also very easy to work with, which is just icing on the cake!” ~ Deb DeFreeuw

"I have worked with Meagan for several years on writing projects for my own business, as well as jobs for clients. Meagan has been a true partner on each, not only in being timely, thorough, and providing high quality work, but also in bringing new ideas and approaches to the table. She takes her clients' goals seriously and is always looking for new ways to accomplish them. I always look to Meagan for innovative and solid work - I know I can count on her for both!" ~ Joya Helmuth

Meagan was absolutely wonderful to work with!! She helped me think bigger than what I thought was ‘all I could come up with’ through her gentle and constructive feedback approach on my first draft. She was extremely responsive and incredibly supportive as I worked through (i.e. rambled) about where I was feeling stuck and the bigger story that was trapped in my head. I’ve already started revamp...
