Overview
When I work with writers, I first want to understand their purpose for publication so I can make sure that my contribution reflects the spirit of the writer involved. With the author's goals in mind, I can then provide whatever feedback the writer has requested — whether that be help developing the book and its arguments or just checking for grammar and usage at the sentence level.I believe in giving lots of feedback and having a dialogue between editor and author. I even include an optional third pass of substantive editing at no extra charge to make sure we've addressed anything that an author might have concerns about. My areas of experience and interest include religion, history, creative nonfiction and memoir, biography and autobiography, YA fiction, politics, and current affairs.
