Overview
I’m a developmental editor with almost a decade as an editor in trade publishing, acquiring, editing, and publishing a range of nonfiction at Penguin Books and Viking Penguin. I worked with first-time authors and experts alike, helping them make everything up to and including international macroeconomics, Icelandic history, and the phenomenology of sports something that anyone can understand, while emphasizing their unique, universal message. In my time there I edited books that went on to win the National Outdoor Book Award for Science Writing (Super Fly), and be nominated for the Spirited for Best New Book on Drinks Culture, History or Spirits (Doctors and Distillers).
If you know you have something important to say, but you want to make sure it’s connecting with readers, I can help you out! After we discuss how you want to position your project, I'll be able to read through your manuscript and help you make it as appealing and comprehensible as possible to the broadest possible audience and help you keep yourself from getting too far into the weeds.
And if you’re trying to find the right home for a project you haven’t written yet, I’ll help you put together your proposal so it puts across all the information publishers be looking for. I’ll be able to draw on my extensive experience reading and assessing proposals for acquisition and participating in acquisitions meetings, talking through what you’ve written and giving you insight into the reactions agents and publishers might have, and what aspects of your work you should strive to highlight.
I'm looking forward to hearing about your project!

Work experience
Viking Penguin
I edited a wide range of nonfiction (and a few fiction projects) for a general audience, covering areas as diverse as economics, personal finance, environmental science, history, and pharmacology; and my titles included finalists for the Spirited Tales of the Cocktail awards and a winner of a National Outdoor Book Award. I also helped management of Penguin Books's extensive backlist and led the imprint's media tie-in program.
Penguin Books
I provided editorial support to the Associate Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Penguin Books, desk editing his titles including several international and New York Times bestsellers, and a winner of the LA Times Christopher Isherwood Prize for memoir. I also assisted in administrative tasks managing the imprint and was party to discussions of imprint-wide publishing decisions.
