Overview

I worked for ten years at Penguin, starting in marketing and moving to editorial, where I became a managing editor. I later worked as a project editor for publishers such as Oxford University Press, where I handled academic nonfiction titles and worked directly with authors as I shepherded their books from manuscript to printed book. In addition to my day jobs in publishing, I've worked for many years as a freelance proofreader for St. Martin’s Press in its mass market and trade divisions. I've proofread mysteries, thrillers, romances, literary fiction, and popular science books. I've also worked as a freelance proofreader for Kaplan Publications, nonprofit organizations, and indie authors. I’m now a full-time freelancer.

I specialize in “editorial proofreading”—that is, I’ll fix typos and grammatical errors that may have been missed in copyediting, but I'll also lightly edit and fact-check as necessary. I’ve noticed that readers are pretty tough in their Amazon reviews. They’ll often mention typos or other errors—for example, “I was so annoyed that the author constantly wrote ‘further’ when it should have been ‘farther.’” I want to help ensure that your book is as perfect as it can be!

In addition to editing, I enjoy writing. I'm the creator and coauthor of a ten-book series titled Undersea Encounters (Scholastic 2007) about ocean animals and habitats. I also self-published a mystery, NIGHTSONG (2016), and am sensitive to the concerns of indie authors.
