Drawing inspiration from folk-tales and wildlife, I use watercolor magic to create children's and nature filled illustrations.

I am an illustrator specializing in watercolor children's illustration, picture books and book covers. Since October 2015, I have completed multiple picture book projects for private clients with emphasis on page-turns, separating text to create pageflow, and including age appropriate imagery. In addition I've had the pleasure to create two book covers for books coming out in late 2017/early 2018, and work with Reeves International.
When working with a client I typically provide thumbnail sketches, and from those develop more detailed sketches and move to the final renders.
Mariya has been freelancing since October 2015. In that time, her work has been published in The Journal Art Order Invitational, she has illustrated two picture books with a third one on the way for private clients, and had a pleasure to work with Reeves International.
In addition she has served as the local advisor for ICON9 The Illustration Conference, and is a proud member of Changeling Artist Collective, The Bird Whisperer Project and SCBWI.
In her previous work life, Mariya has served as a regulatory affairs coordinator for a medical device consulting company managing medical device and cosmetics registrations in Europe and Asia.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree with emphasis on pre-medicine from Baylor University.
