Marissa Grossman

Marissa Grossman – Editor

Hands-on, collaborative editor specializing in Young Adult and Middle Grade fiction and nonfiction. Formerly Penguin Random House.

Overview

I have over ten years of publishing experience, starting my career in marketing at Penguin Random House, then spending 6+ years as an Editor at Razorbill, a division of Penguin Young Readers. At Razorbill, I worked with New York Times bestselling authors Sabaa Tahir, Romina Russell, and Beth Revis, as well YA darlings like Emily Henry, Lily Anderson, and Natalie C. Parker. I also specialize in story development, having collaborated with brilliant authors like Richard Lawson, Dana Schwartz, and Anna Breslaw on their debut novels. Though my speciality is Young Adult fiction, I also have experience with and a strong interest in celebrity and pop-culture-based nonfiction, as well as Middle Grade fiction.

I am a dedicated editor who believes deeply in collaboration, and I aim to develop strong relationships with authors based on kindness, compassion, and respect. I want to highlight what is working well in your project, and I want to help you identify and address those elements that could use more attention. Whether you want to focus on plot structure, characters, world-building, or any other pain point, I can work with you on everything from brainstorming, to expanding on your ideas, to simply polishing your novel's rough edges.
