Annette Christie

Annette Christie – Editor

Author (Little, Brown, Audible) with 7+ years in publishing. Clear, incisive feedback for romance, women's fiction, thrillers, YA and more.

Overview

"Annette has been giving me feedback on my writing for years now, and her sharp insights always make my stories better. She has a great eye for pacing and tension, character development, and line edits, and approaches feedback in a way that is both encouraging and constructive. Reading her edit letters always gets me excited to dive into revisions!" - Jenny L. Howe, author of The Make-Up Test and On the Plus Side

"Annette is extremely insightful and generous with her knowledge. Her suggestions made my plot and prose stronger, which led to me catching the attention of several Big 5 editors. With years of experience mentoring new authors, Annette knows her stuff." - Sonia Hartl, author of Heartbreak For Hire and The Lost Girls

"Annette honed in on the core problems in my query with laser-sharp editing and lots of kindness! Her suggestions elevated my query from "okay" to brilliant, and I feel so much more confident about bringing my work in front of agents. I highly recommend Annette for all of your writing needs!" - Alexandria Green, querying adult thriller writer

About Me:

For over six years, I’ve been editing and critiquing books, most of which have gone onto be published, several that were nominated for prestigious awards, such as the International Thriller Writers Best Young Adult Novel and the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement. I’ve worked with bestselling authors and powerhouse editors.

During the course of my publishing career, I’ve:

· collaborated with Alloy Entertainment (You, Everything Everything, Gossip Girl)

· been a Pitch Wars mentor to talented writers and helped them launch their careers

· written and narrated an audiobook with Audible Originals

· published novels with Little, Brown.

How do you know I’m the right editor for you?

I've helped writers climb their way out of messy first drafts. I've assisted those who may have forgotten to include stakes and plot amongst their moody prose and witty banter. I've even helped already phenomenal artists build upon what they've started but can't seem to finish.

I’ve accumulated knowledge and skills from years of working with talented authors, editors, and agents, and I would love to share that knowledge with you! Whether you struggle with voice, hitting those plot points, dialogue, setting, improving pacing, or fleshing out characters through their backstory, I've got you.

What can you expect?

I offer various packages, including query and synopsis critiques, developmental and line edits, and brainstorming sessions. I will take care with your words and look at them with a sharp editorial eye—but also with the heart of a lifelong reader. I am a firm believer that it's just as valuable to know what you’re doing right as what you need to improve on. Whether you’re pursuing a career as an indie, traditionally published, or hybrid author, I can help.

Annette was the first developmental editor I've worked with, and I hit the jackpot. I loved her feedback, including her notes as a reader engaging with the content. :) She was a gem and helped keep me on track with pacing and fleshing out the ending. It was wonderful working with her, and I look forward to collaborating on future projects!

I'm a first-time author, and Annette has been so incredibly helpful to me as I am working towards publishing my first book. The price was reasonable—better than anyone else I queried for the project—and she started the work right away. Her edits were detailed and specific, and she was available to answer questions after the work was completed. After working with Annette, I now feel like I have ...

Not only are Annette’s own books a perfect blend of romance and book club fiction, she is an excellent editor with a keen eye for detail. Working with Annette has been a joy. She’s encouraging and kind, but manages to zero in on the missing ingredients that will enhance your manuscript. I highly recommend working with her. It has been fruitful and affirming.

I’m a little late to reviewing, but still wanted to leave a positive one! I got so much out of working with Anette, I’m about a month out, and now have a much more clear direction! She’s very kind and personable, while also being professional and honest! I highly recommend her if you’re feeling lost/confused with your manuscript! She’s helped me out tons, and I would definitely work with her in...
