Lok Yee Liu – Editor

Editor with a focus on Children's Education and Literacy through stories. Passionate about representation and accessibility.

Overview

I am an experienced Editor with an extensive history of working in the Children's education and Higher Education publishing industry. I specialise in working with texts for young people and young voices, whether it's poetry or reading schemes or fiction adventures. I am currently working for a university and am adept at digital and academic editing too — but my passions lie with Children's books!

I would love to work with you on your stories, whether it be developing your story, ironing out the little snags or a general proofread. I'm interested in the shaping of your text whilst maintaining creative integrity and vision of the author. Being an editor is truly a collaborative process and I embrace this style of working. I especially welcome stories that champion diversity and inclusion as a multilingual, third-culture person!

I firmly believe in human creativity and the importance of the creative process taking time and careful consideration. I also believe in my own expertise of children's educational development and how it should be reflected in the language in stories therefore, I will not use any AI tools in my work.

Testimonial from former colleague:

Lok Yee is a thorough and considerate editor, and works efficiently and thoughtfully for her authors. She has great understanding of technical editorial points such as grammar and style guides, as well as fantastic instincts and experience working on structure and development editing. Lok Yee is a brilliant all rounder - she can turn her hand to anything, all the while respecting the importance of the author's style.
