Liz Kossnar

Liz Kossnar – Editor

I currently acquire and edit picture books, middle grade, and teen novels and non-fiction at Simon and Schuster Books for Young Readers.

Overview

I joined the Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers editorial team in November 2013. Prior to Simon & Schuster, I graduated from the University of Chicago with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities, focusing on mythology, folklore, and fairy tales; interned at Albert Whitman & Company; taught English abroad in France; completed the Columbia Publishing Course; and was the editorial manager for the teen and kids' review websites at The Book Report Network. I have had the privilege of working with authors and illustrators such as Jeff Mack, Stuart Gibbs, Whitney Gardner, Jessica Lawson, Michelle Hodkin, and many others. It is a true pleasure to help make manuscripts and pitches the best they can be for readers and the market!

Liz helped me out with my query letter and was a delight to collaborate with. She helped me to identify unique points in my manuscript and gave excellent advise on how to utilize these in my query to make it stand out. I would absolutely recommend her and hope to collaborate with her again.

Unlike most authors, I loved seeing all the remarks on my manuscript. The edits were helpful and let me know that I wasn't quite ready yet to try for an agent. That kept me from a lot of rejection slips. She is well worth the price paid. I would recommend her to anyone in need of an editor for children's books.
