Liam Relph – Designer

I have worked within the book publishing industry for over twenty years, designing books and book covers for a number of leading UK publishers including Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Picador and Hodder & Stoughton. I have worked on book projects for authors such as Iris Murdoch, Colson Whitehead, Ray Robisnson, Marina Hyde, Inua Ellams and Patricia Highsmith.

I will always aim to create work that is creative, intelligent and well thought out. The design of any book really does matter and I will focus on adding the maximum design value to any book I am working on. I always like to read a manuscript before starting any project, as I can't imagine designing a cover without first making the effort to understand the book!

I have typeset, designed and illustrated numerous book interiors over the years, ranging from poetry anthologies to fully illustrated children's art books. I love working on the interiors and offer a service where I will make your words sit beautifully on the page.

I also co-run a small poetry press and have created books for John Hegley, Tim Turnbull and Annie Freud amongst many others.

When I'm not designing I like to make Thai food and read as many books as I can get my hands on!
